We know buying a property for yourself or for your family to live in can be a stressful time. That’s why we have provided the answers to some frequently asked questions to try and help answer any questions you may have.

What does Dovehouse Court offer retired people?

Living at Dovehouse Court Ltd allows retired people to retain their independence for longer, enjoy an active social life and devote time to their personal interests without the burden of running a household.

Am I allowed to bring a pet with me?
The lease states that owners may keep domestic animals as pets, providing that they are not a nuisance.
Who sets the annual service charge?
This is proposed by the Board of Directors which is made up of owners at the Court. It is agreed by the Owners at a meeting in March each year.

Yes! Refuse is collected 3 times a week from outside the owner’s apartment. Glass, plastic, paper and cardboard are recycled.
Is there an age restriction to me living at Dovehouse Court?

There is no restriction on re-sale save only that one of the occupants of an individual apartment is at least 60 years of age. This is a restriction imposed by the Lease in order to maintain the character of the development and is also a condition of the Planning Approval granted by the Local Authority.

What costs are involved when living at Dovehouse Court?

Along with the monthly service charge owners are responsible for their own utility bills, council tax, contents insurance and any additional services they may use.

The service charge covers the staff and running costs of the Court, its maintenance and repair, administration and insurance. This means that costs you may already pay for such as employing a cleaner, window cleaner and gardener, the cost of buildings insurance and registering with an emergency lifeline service are already covered. Ground rent is not payable. Part of it is also put aside for future maintenance and refurbishment and the repair or replacement of major items such as the emergency call system and lifts.

As it is the owners who set and agree the budget and Dovehouse Court Ltd is a non-profit making company, charges are kept to a minimum and everyone has a vested interest in keeping communal bills as cost effective as possible.

Can I rent an apartment at Dovehouse Court?

This is currently not an option.
